Learn to fence in a day!! PDF Print E-mail
Written by ONE DAY FENCING WORKSHOP
Thursday, 17 September 2009 19:17

We are planning a few Saturday all day workshops to teach people who have never fenced before the basics to enable them to join our club or one of the others in South Wales and fence!

We are now taking names for the first course planned for Saturday November 28th 2009. It will consist of one full day of instruction with a number of coaches available( depending on course numbers). We aim to teach people "straight off the street" of all ages ( 9 years and over) to fence in a day!

The course will cost £25 including insurance for the whole year!

We will use the experience we have gained in our 5x60 sessions to teach a small number of students in a very intesive way.

The course will start at 9:00 am and with frequent breaks and a lunch in the centre cafe, by 4:30 we will have made fencers of you all! We will use videos to show you what you are doing wrong as well as show examples of fencing on the big screen during your coffee breaks!

Bring a packed lunch and a drink or money to buy food in the cafe, you will be supervised at all times even over lunch and during the breaks!

You will get plenty of practice fencing with the others on the course during the afternoon!

The course will be FUN but it is not a play scheme, it will need commitment and concentration. It will will use real swords not toys and is conducted by fully qualified and experienced fencing coach.

We are lucky to have a purpose made facility with a cafe on site to offer this unique experience. Advertising will start in the next week or two, so get in quickly!

Ring Steve on 01792 369539 for details, for insurance purposes we will need all names in advance accompanied by a non refundable deposit of £10 to cover insurance through British Fencing for the whole year!

Why wait to learn to fence!!!!!! PDF Print E-mail

Why wait to join the next beginners course when you can join one of our regular one day workshops?

The club, like all other clubs in Wales, offers a 10 week beginners course, usually one every term. However if you are in a hurry and cannot wait until the next one, or that one is full (as often happens in a successful club like ours) then consider the one day workshop option.

The one day course will take a small group of people through an intensive short course, we are the ONLY local club offering such a workshop.

See the other article on this page about the course scheduled for the 7th November for details or call Steve on 01792 369539.

The ONE DAY option is cheaper - £25 as against £60 for the long course, obviously not quite the same but due to the small classses sizes and intensive nature of the workshop the rusults compere very favourably!

We are back after the summer break and our beginnres classes are full, we are now taking names for the next courses in January 2010.

The sessions we have held in the comprehensive schools around Swansea have resulted in an influx of teenagers and more have expressed an interest in starting but have been told they have to wait until the January intake! Our fame is spreading!

As Steve is no longer able to do the 5x60 sessiosn during the week, we are working with a number of 5x60 officers to deliver some Saturday morning sessions, combining pupils from more than one school. We will publlish details of these once they have been finalised.
